Greetings from Howsafe! As one of the UK's leading independent, family-run suppliers of workwear and PPE, we're delighted to bring you the latest updates and exciting innovations happening within our company. This month, we're thrilled to share some major advancements and eco-friendly initiatives that will not only enhance our products but also contribute to a more sustainable future.

Big Investment in DTF Printing

We're proud to announce a significant leap forward in our production capabilities with the acquisition of the latest direct-to-film (DTF) technology from Mimaki. After a meticulous selection process, evaluating numerous DTF printers at the Print and Promo show earlier this year, the Mimaki system emerged as the clear winner. Known for its user-friendliness, exceptional print quality, and impressive output speed, this system promises to revolutionise our printing process.

DTF printing offers substantial advantages over traditional vinyl printer/plotter systems. It allows us to produce intricate designs without the need for weeding, significantly reducing preparation time and material waste. This innovation enables us to create designs that were previously deemed impossible, delivering vibrant, highly detailed logos that stretch with the garment without losing shape. The PHT50 pigment inks we use are ECO-Passport Certified and meet the stringent Okeo-Tex certification standards, ensuring your logo looks exceptionally professional and eco-friendly.

New Product Highlights

Portwest ECO 1/4 Zip Fleece

We are excited to introduce the modern Portwest ECO 1/4 Zip Microfleece, made from 100% GRS recycled polyester. This anti-pill durable 210g fleece is perfect for wearing on its own or as part of a layering system. At just £15.90 plus VAT, it’s an affordable and eco-conscious choice for your workwear needs.

Earthpro Range

Our Earthpro polo shirts, sweatshirts, and softshell jackets are now available off the shelf at even more affordable prices. For companies and clubs committed to sustainability, the Earthpro range offers an unparalleled option. At the end of their life cycle, ORN will take back Earthpro garments to recycle and repurpose them into new products, making them an eco-friendly choice.

Eco-Friendly Initiatives

New ECO Packaging Tape

Starting in May, you'll notice a shift from plastic tape to a more eco-friendly paper-based option in our packaging. This change is part of our ongoing efforts to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainability.

Cofra's Recycled Soles

Cofra has confirmed that they will be using recycled materials for all sole units within their Wellness, Running, and Tennis ranges. Look out for the new recycled soles on styles such as Drumstep, Goya, Zatopek, Alice, Monnalisa, Monè, and Marciano.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, we continue to work on our environmental accreditation and prepare for our first Investors In Environment audit in June. We're committed to enhancing our infrastructure and adopting new technologies that improve both our products and our sustainability practices.
