Celebrating Women in Construction Week 2024

Women in Construction Week 2024 not only highlights the invaluable contributions of women to construction but also underscores the ongoing efforts to foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment.

This year, Women in Construction Week coincides with an initiative by the House of Commons Administration Committee, further amplifying the significance of this celebration. The committee has announced a one-off public evidence session focusing on women in construction, particularly concerning current and future projects on the parliamentary estate.

The session, prompted by a parliamentary question from Natalie Elphicke MP, aims to delve into the Restoration and Renewal programme's strategies for enhancing skill development and creating opportunities for women in the construction sector. This session will gather insights from officials involved in Parliament’s ongoing projects, the Restoration and Renewal programme, and representatives from the 'Women into Construction' organisation.

This initiative is a vital step in addressing the challenges women face in the construction industry and exploring how the House Administration and Delivery Authority can support women in current and future construction roles. It is an opportunity to scrutinise how existing support for staff within Parliament can be augmented, how the supply chain can incorporate more opportunities for women, and the exemplary role the Restoration and Renewal programme can play in promoting best practices in gender inclusion.

We are committed to supporting these initiatives by providing high-quality, inclusive workwear and PPE solutions that cater to the diverse needs of the construction workforce. Recognising the importance of safety and comfort, we ensure that our products meet the highest standards, facilitating women's participation and success in the construction field.

The public evidence session by the House of Commons Administration Committee is a commendable effort in spotlighting the contributions and challenges of women in construction. It signifies a collective commitment to nurturing an environment where women can thrive and excel in their construction careers.
